Early Childhood Education
This course prepares students for employment in early childhood, education and related services and provides the foundation for higher education that leads to early childhood, education, and other child-related careers. Students spend one period each day in course work at Huntington North and two periods each day assisting in local daycare and preschool settings. Topics include planning and guiding developmentally appropriate activities for young children; appropriate guidance and discipline; application of basic health and safety principles when working with children; an overview of managing and operating child care facilities and employability skills. Applications for participation in this course may be obtained from the student’s counselor.
